MEET MARC
TEACHER. FATHER. ENTHUSIAST OF THE WORLD.
Marc Fogel is an American educator who spent decades teaching at international schools around the world, including the Anglo-American School of Moscow.
In 2021, he was arrested at a Russian airport for possessing a small amount of medical marijuana prescribed for chronic pain. Despite being a 61-year-old teacher with no criminal history, he was sentenced to 14 years in a Russian penal colony, a punishment widely seen as disproportionate.
His case has received far less attention than other high-profile detainees, leaving his family and advocates fighting to bring him home.

In December 2024, Marc finally received his official designation as "wrongfully detained."

Marc was released from Russia on February 11, 2025 and we are continuing to document his story.
